Mantota soliņa jaunais tērps / New clothes of the inherited bench

Ievācoties jaunajā īres dzīvoklī, tā īpašnieks teica: "Mantas, ko es tur atstāju, vai nu metiet ārā, vai izmantojiet!" To vidū bija arī šis vienkāršais soliņš, kas man šķita gluži glīts, taču nepiestāvēja nevienas istabas interjeram:

When we moved into the new rental apartment, the owner said, "The things I left behind you can either use or throw out". Among them was also this simple and rather attractive bench, which, unfortunately, did not fit into the interior:



Pieņēmu lēmumu kaut ko pasākt lietas labā. Vispirms jau labi zināmajā balvāriešu tehnikā notamborēju soliņam košu pārvalku, lai noslēptu man tik netīkamo tumšzilo polsterējumu, bet dažas dienas vēlāk, reizē ar citu mēbeļu pārveidošanu, nokrāsoju soliņa kājas baltā krāsā. Tagad šī nelielā, bet ļoti praktiskā mēbele labi iederas dzīvokļa interjerā, tādēļ par ārā mešanu nevar būt ne runas! Soliņš turpmāk "dzīvos" guļamistabā un kalpos kā ķeblītis pie spoguļgaldiņa.

I took a decision to do something about it. First of all, I crocheted a bright cover in Bavarian technique to hide the dark blue upholstery I didn't like so much. A few days later, simultaneously with the makeover of other pieces of furniture, I painted the legs of the bench white. Now this small yet very practical piece of furniture is well suited to the apartment interior, so there is no question about its throw-out. The bench will 'live' in our bedroom and serve as a stool by the mirrored dressing table.

Minipārvērtības virtuvē / Mini-changes in the kitchen

Lai gan līdz brīdim, kad būs jāizvācas no īrējamā dzīvokļa, ir atlicis mazāk nekā pusotrs mēnesis, es vēl joprojām tajā veicu dažādus pārkārtojumus. Es ticu (un mana pieredze to apliecina), ka pārmaiņas interjerā veicina jaunu vēsmu ienākšanu citās dzīves jomās, tādēļ, dzīvojot kopā ar mani, jārēķinās, ka neviena lieta ilgi nenostāvēs vienā un tajā pašā vietā un nepaliks ierastajā krāsā vai formā.

Although there's less than a month and a half left until we move out of the present rent apartment, I still make different rearrangements here. I believe (and my experience shows) that interior changes cause positive transformations in other areas of life, so, living with me, one must keep in mind that nothing will long remain in the same place, colour or form, for I get bored of permanency very quickly.

Šoreiz mazo, izvelkamo tējas galdiņu piemeklēja pārkrāsošanas liktenis, jo man sagribējās ienest virtuvē vēl vairāk gaišuma, tas ir, baltās krāsas. Speciāli klāju tikai vienu krāsas kārtu, turklāt dažādos virzienos, jo man šķita, ka galdiņam piestāvētu izskatīties nobružāti šikam.

This time, the small black tea table was fated to repainting because I wished to bring more brightness (i.e. white colour) in the kitchen. I intentionally applied a thin layer of paint rotating my hand in different directions in order to achieve the "shabby chic" look.
